Teenage duo sign contract extensions with Sheffield United

Sheffield United have today announced that teenagers Keri Matthews and Lucy Watson have extended their stays with the club for the 2020/2021 season according to reports on The Blades’ official website.

The attacking duo both joined The Blades last year and have impressed in the early days of their careers at the South Yorkshire club.

Winger Matthews made 13 appearances for Sheffield United last season. The player featured in her club’s 3-2 defeat at Aston Villa on the opening day of last season and she never looked back.

After extending her stay at Sheffield United for the coming season, the youngster told the club’s official media channels “I learned a lot from last season and now I’m just really excited to get back with the team and get started for next season.”

Teammate Watson only joined The Blades in January from Doncaster Rovers Belles. She was unable to make a senior appearance prior to the season being called to a premature end. Despite not yet being given the chance to impress, the youngster is rated highly by The Blades.

Upon signing her new deal, Watson said “I’m really excited now to start the season properly with the team after joining at the start of the year and to see what the season ahead holds for us a squad.”

Today’s news follows Sheffield United’s recent announcement that Naomi Hartley and Leandra Little have extended their contracts at The Proact Stadium.
