Dutch attacker Iris Achterhof has signed a new contract with Durham for the 2020/2021 FA Women’s Championship season according to reports on The Wildcats’ official club website.
The 23-year-old striker joined The Wildcats last summer following spells playing in both the United States and Iceland.
Achterhof is one of the more physical players in Lee Sanders’ squad and she will again bring something different to the Durham side this season after extending her contract at New Ferens Park.
Durham’s number 10 made 13 appearances for the club last season in the FA Women’s Championship while she contributed three goals including a brace in the 6-0 demolition of the London City Lionesses at Princes Park. Only four Durham players made more league appearances than Achterhof last season.
Upon signing her new deal with The Wildcats, Achterhof told Durham’s official club media sources “I’m really pleased to be returning to Durham for another season.
“I can’t wait to get back on the field and see all our amazing fans. Your support means a lot to all the players and our coaching staff and everyone involved with the club.”
Achterhof is the tenth member of Durham’s 2019/2020 squad to sign on again for the new campaign. She follows Emily Roberts, Nicki Gears, Sarah Wilson, Becky Salicki, Beth Hepple, Ellie Christon, Kathryn Hill, Sarah Robson and Megan Borthwick in agreeing fresh terms with The Wildcats.
