New Zealand international forward Katie Rood has signed a new contract with Lewes for the upcoming FA Women’s Championship season.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a productive 18-month spell with The Rookettes, joining the club initially on a loan deal from Bristol City before making the move permanent last summer.
Rood has netted four goals in 17 outings in the FA Women’s Championship for Lewes while she also hit a wonderstrike in the narrow 2-1 defeat to Barclays FA Women’s Super League champions Chelsea at The Dripping Pan last season in the group stage of the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.
With Lewes boss Simon Parker currently building his squad for the 2020/2021 season, it has today been confirmed that forward Rood is the latest player to put pen to paper. The Rookettes confirmed the news on their official Twitter account this lunchtime.

Rood’s new deal at The Dripping Pan now means that six Lewes players have signed on for the new season. The Kiwi joins Filippa Savva, Charley Boswell, Paula Howells, Samantha Quayle and Rhian Cleverly in extending her contract with The Rookettes. Lewes boss Parker is yet to bring any new faces into his group.
Lewes finished the 2019/2020 campaign in eighth position in the FA Women’s Championship in what was their second year playing at that level of football
