Norwegian goalkeeper Aurora Mikalsen has signed a one-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur according to reports on the club’s official website.
She replaces Chloe Morgan who left The Hive at the end of her contract and is likely be understudy to Becky Spencer, despite being handed the number one shirt.
The 24-year-old keeper spent last season at Manchester United having impressed during training when United were on tour in Oslo and needed cover for injuries. She made one appearance for the club in an 11-1 victory over Leicester City in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.
Mikalsen worked her way up in her native Norway, latterly making 70 appearances for Toppserien side Kolbotn between 2016 and 2019. She has represented Norway from Under-15 level up to Under-23 level and received
her first senior call-up as part of the 2018 Algarve Cup squad, she was a member of the winning squad in
the same competition the following year.
After signing on at Spurs, Mikalsen told the club’s official media sources “Coming to Spurs is an exciting challenge for me and I am really looking forward to the season ahead.
“There’s a good atmosphere at the club and I can’t wait to get back out there with my new teammates.
“I think the qualities I have as a goalkeeper fit well with the way Karen and Juan want our playing style to be and I’m hoping I can continue to build my skillset.”
