German youth international completes Villa move

Aston Villa have today announced on their official club website that they have recruited former Turbine Potsdam full-back Caro Siems.

Siems is Villa’s fifth signing of the summer following the recent arrivals of Chloe Arthur, Anita Asante, Diana Silva, and fellow German star Lisa Weiss.

Upon completing her latest capture, Villa boss Gemma Davies told the club’s official media sources “Caro has gained experience in the German Bundesliga as an attack-minded full-back.

“Caro is still only young and has a huge amount of potential.

“She has the ability to play on both feet, is comfortable playing in wide areas and inside the pitch.

“She will bring an exciting dynamic to our attacking abilities.”

The 21-year-old has represented the German national team from Under-15 level up to Under-19 level. She will be hoping that her move to The Banks’s Stadium can help her force her way into the senior side. Siems helped her nation win the UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship in 2016 in Belarus after they overcame Spain in a penalty shootout to be crowned champions.

Villa have seen eight players depart the club this summer therefore recruitment was always going to be a vital part of their preparation for the 2020/2021 campaign. Survival will be the main objective for the Midlands club going into the new season and they appear to be building a squad with a blend of youth and experience in order to achieve their goal.
