Welsh international midfielder Georgia Walters has signed a new contract with Blackburn Rovers for the coming season.
The 27-year-old joined Gemma Donnelly’s side from North West Women’s Regional League Premier Division club Tranmere Rovers in February and made just a couple of appearances for her new side before the 2019/2020 season was brought to an early end as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Walters made her debut in Blackburn Rovers’ 2-0 home loss to Durham before she featured in the Lancashire club’s final game at Sheffield United as they crashed to a 5-1 defeat.
The midfielder has agreed to remain with Rovers for the coming season with the club confirming via their official Twitter account that she has signed a new contact.

Walters will offer manager Donnelly plenty of flexibility in 2020/2021 with the player able to operate in all midfield areas. She will provide some strong competition for a place in the Rovers starting XI.
The player started her career with Reading before enjoying spells with Swindon Town and Tranmere Rovers. Walters’ move to Blackburn Rovers has finally given her the chance to test herself in the second tier.
Walters received a first senior international call-up to the Welsh squad back in October. She is yet to make her debut for her country but a season of FA Women’s Championship football could enhance her claims for international honours.
