FC Fleury 91 forward Stine Larsen has completed a move to FA Women’s Super League newcomers Aston Villa as reported on the club’s official website.
The 24-year-old striker joins Villa after just one season with the French Division 1 Feminine club where she scored four goals in 14 appearances.
Prior to that, she spent six years in her native Denmark playing for Brondby IF. Larsen has so far made 45 appearances for the Danish national team and represented them at the 2017 UEFA Women’s EURO. She becomes the seventh signing which Gemma Davies has made so far this summer but she is probably the most substantial yet.
After securing the services of Larsen, Villa boss Davies told the club’s official media source “Stine is a young Danish forward who has represented Denmark at all age groups and major tournaments.
“Stine is a traditional number nine who likes to operate inside the 18-yard box.
“She has an eye for goal and is dominant both aerially and with her feet.
“We are yet to see the best from Stine and we are all so excited to see how she continues to develop in a claret & blue shirt!”
Larsen looks to be the perfect replacement for Villa’s top scorer from last season, Mel Johnson. The Dane is the second forward to join the club so far this summer.
