Former Brighton & Hove Albion forward Ini Umotong has sealed a move to Swedish Damallsvenskan side Vaxjo DFF.
The troublesome 26-year-old Nigerian attacker moves to her new club on a free transfer after being released by Barclays FA Women’s Super League side Albion earlier this summer.
Umotong had spent the last three years with The Seagulls after joining the club from Oxford United in 2017. She played an important role in Brighton & Hove Albion making the successful transition from being a second tier side to one which is now well-established at the top level.
News of Umotong’s transfer to Swedish side Vaxjo DFF has been announced by global sports management company World in Motion – Women in a post on their official Twitter account this evening.

Umotong netted eight goals in her one season with Brighton & Hove Albion in the second tier before scoring just three times in the last two seasons in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. The player struggled for starting opportunities at The People’s Pension Stadium last season, she was restricted to six league starts as Albion recorded a ninth-place finish.
The striker joins a Vaxjo DFF side who are currently bottom of the Damallsvenskan table after five matches. The club have picked up just one point so far this season. The player will be hoping to bring much-needed goals with her to the Swedish side.
