Sheffield United have completed the signing of defender Ellie Wilson from FA Women’s Championship rivals London Bees according to reports on The Blades’ official website.
The 23-year-old becomes the South Yorkshire club’s second signing of the summer following the recent addition of striker Melissa Johnson.
Wilson moves to The Proact Stadium following a two-year spell with London Bees. She made eight appearances for The Bees in the FA Women’s Championship last season as the club recorded their best-ever finish in the second tier.
The defender has top flight experience to her name following spells with Reading and Bristol City earlier in her career. She started her career with The Royals before moving to the South West as she spent two years on the books at Bristol City.
Upon signing for Sheffield United, Wilson told the club’s official media sources “I’m really, really pleased to be joining. It’s really exciting times for the club, especially after how well the team did last season, that was a big selling point for me.
“The ambition is pretty clear from the club and that matches my ambitions. It’s definitely an exciting time for me to be coming in. Sheffield United as a club is definitely somewhere I want to be playing as a next step in my career because of the ambition and where the club wants to go.”
Wilson also brings international experience with her to Sheffield United. The player has represented England at various youth levels.
