Blackburn Rovers boss Gemma Donnelly has completed the signings of young Everton duo Issy Dean and Emma Doyle ahead of the coming season.
The highly-rated pair will look to make the step up to the FA Women’s Championship this season after largely playing within Everton’s academy and development structure in recent years.
Centre-back Dean was the first of the two new signings to be unveiled by Rovers on their official website this afternoon. The 19-year-old defender has represented The Blue Girls on many occasions in the FA WSL Academy League but has not made a senior outing for the Merseyside club.
Rovers later announced that midfielder Doyle has also moved to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium from Everton. The 20-year-old spent eight years on Merseyside in which she graduated from the club’s Regional Talent Centre (RTC) and trained with the first team but never got the opportunity to taste Barclays FA Women’s Super League football.
The arrivals of Dean and Doyle means that Rovers boss Donnelly has now added five players to her squad for the new season. Goalkeepers Emma Bradley and Alex Brooks have signed on while former Manchester United academy graduate Charlotte Newsham has also become a Rover.
