Charlton Athletic have completed the double-signing of former Lewes pair Ella Powell and Jess King according to reports on The Addicks’ official website.
The duo left The Dripping Pan earlier this summer but they will remain in the FA Women’s Championship this season after signing for Riteesh Mishra’s Charlton Athletic side.
The pair become the first signings of the summer at Charlton Athletic and they join the seven squad members who have already signed contract extensions to remain with The Addicks for the coming season. Those seven players include midfielder Jenna Pegg who committed her services to the South East Londoners for another season earlier today.
Striker Powell make eight appearances for former club Lewes in the FA Women’s Championship last season while teammate King, who is also a forward, made 11 appearances in which she netted two goals. King played in the goalless draw with Charlton Athletic at The Oakwood in August last year.
The pair could make their Charlton Athletic debuts in next month’s opening fixture of the season against Crystal Palace. Mishra’s side will take on The Eagles at The Oakwood on Sunday 6 September in a game which will be played behind-closed-doors due to the Covid-19 social distancing rules.
