Everton complete loan signing of Scottish international forward

Everton manager Willie Kirk has again been busy in the transfer market completing the loan signing of forward Claire Emslie from American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Orlando Pride according to reports on The Blue Girls’ official website.

The 26-year-old Scottish international attacker has joined the Merseyside club for the entire 2020/2021 Barclays FA Women’s Super League campaign.

Everton boss Kirk is no stranger to the forward with the pair having worked together at both Hibernian and Bristol City in the past. The deal is thought to have been in the pipeline for a number of weeks with Emslie having initially been linked with Everton last month.

After starting her career north of the border with Hibs, Emslie enjoyed successful spells in the English game with both Bristol City and Manchester City. The forward won a domestic cup double with the latter in 2018/2019. The player then moved to the United States where she joined Orlando Pride and she was loaned out to Australian W-League club Melbourne City last season.

Emslie has now joined an impressive Everton roster which boasts some world class talent. She will initially spend the next 12 months at Walton Hall Park as the club look to make a real statement of intent in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

Upon joining Everton, Emslie told the club’s official media channels “It’s really exciting to be here.

“The Club is really trying to grow and is on a journey. It’s definitely moving in the right direction.

“I’ve worked with Willie at Hibs and at Bristol and both my experiences were amazing.

“He’s someone I believe can get the best out of me – and that’s what I want to produce at Everton.”

Emslie will wear the number 11 shirt for The Blue Girls in the coming season.
