The wait is over for fans of Leicester City with the club having revealed their new squad for the 2020/2021 season via their official website earlier today.
The Foxes have a habit of keeping their recruitment quiet over the summer but this season is more special than most with the club announcing 11 new additions ahead of the new FA Women’s Championship season.
If that news is not exciting enough, Leicester City have revealed that they will be operating as a full-time club this season as they step up their pursuit of a place in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
Competing alongside Demi Lambourne for the number one jersey is former Everton goalkeeper Kirstie Levell. She left The Blue Girls at the end of last season and has resumed her career with The Foxes.
In defence, two players with Barclays FA Women’s Super League experience have been recruited in Sophie Howard and Esmee de Graaf, while former Sheffield United defender Sam Tierney is also onboard.
For the midfield, Leicester City boss Jonathan Morgan has recruited former Reading star Remi Allen and former Sheffield United ace Sophie Barker while Ruesha Littlejohn is also listed in that position, although she could play higher up the park.
The attacking positions are where Leicester City have made the biggest impact in the transfer market. Former Chelsea and Reading forward Millie Farrow has joined the club alongside former Everton striker Hannah Cain. Morgan has also captured two players with impressive goal returns in last season’s FA Women’s Championship in former Blackburn Rovers forward Natasha Flint and ex-Sheffield United attacker Liv Fergusson.
Leicester City start the 2020/2021 season with a home fixture against Blackburn Rovers on 6 September.
