Durham captain Wilson signs new deal

Durham captain Sarah Wilson has signed a new contract with the club ahead of the 2026/2027 season.

The Wildcats announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Wilson has spent more than a decade with Durham. She was a member of the side that competed in the inaugural FAWSL2 back in 2014. The defender has gone on to make 270 appearances for Durham in all competitions, only teammate Beth Hepple has appeared more.

Wilson has been a true pioneer of Durham Women and she is very much a fans’ favourite. Her legacy will now continue after putting pen to paper on a new deal.

After signing on again at Maiden Castle, Wilson said “I’m delighted to sign a new contract with Durham, after more than 12 years at the club. I’ve seen the club grow so much over the years, and I’m proud to have been part of that journey.

“I’m grateful for the faith the club has shown in me and look forward to giving my all again this season. We have a great group of players, staff and supporters, and I’m excited about what we can achieve together.

“I can’t wait to get back out there and represent Durham once again.”

Further squad news will be announced by Durham in due course.
