FA Women’s Championship club Charlton Athletic have completed the signing of former Bristol City goalkeeper Eartha Cumings according to reports on The Addicks’ official website.
The 21-year-old Scotland-born keeper moves to The Addicks on a free transfer after leaving former club Bristol City when her contract with the Barclays FA Women’s Super League outfit expired earlier this summer.
Cumings had struggled for first team playing opportunities with her former club with the player largely providing cover for first choice Bristol City goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley. She has a good chance of making her mark with latest club Charlton Athletic with the South East Londoners being without their other senior keeper Shanell Salgado due to injury.
Bristol City signed Cumings in 2018 after the player had come through the youth ranks at Scottish club Spartans FC. The youngster made two senior appearances for The Robins in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup, one of those outings came against Charlton Athletic as her side won 5-2 at The Oakwood in December.
Upon joining Charlton Athletic, Cumings told the club’s official media sources “I’m really excited to be joining Charlton. All the girls and staff have been great in making me feel welcome since arriving. I’m looking forward to the season starting and playing our first games.”
Cumings could make her Charlton Athletic debut in their FA Women’s Championship London derby against Crystal Palace on Sunday 6 September.
