Former Aston Villa defender joins Nottingham Forest

Former Aston Villa defender Charlotte Greengrass has joined FA Women’s National League North club Nottingham Forest for the new season according to reports on The Reds’ official club website.

The 20-year-old was one of eight first team players released by Villa at the end of last season following the club’s promotion to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

Greengrass was signed by Villa boss Gemma Davies last summer but made just three substitute appearances for The Claret and Blues in last season’s FA Women’s Championship.

With the youngster having been without a club since early June, it has today been announced that Greengrass has joined Nottingham Forest ahead of the new FA Women’s National League North season. She joins a club who were third in last season’s competition prior to the campaign being declared void as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Greengrass has spent the last two years playing in the FA Women’s Championship. She represented Leicester City in 2018/2019 with the player having been on The Foxes books for a decade before becoming Villa boss Davies’ seventh addition last summer.

The youngster will offer her new club plenty of versatility with Greengrass able to operate either in defence or midfield.
