Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of New Zealand international defender Rebekah Stott according to reports on the club’s official website.
The 27-year-old moves to The People’s Pension Stadium following a spell playing in the Australian W-League with Melbourne City. Stott has reportedly signed an initial one-year deal with Albion.
The defender brings plenty of experience with her to Sussex. Not only has Stott played W-League football with three different clubs, she has also featured in the American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) as well as in the German and Norwegian leagues. On the international stage, Stott has 71 senior caps to her name with The Football Ferns.
Stott has become Brighton & Hove Albion boss Hope Powell’s sixth signing of the summer so far. She follows Katie Startup, Katie Robinson, Inessa Kaagman, Nora Heroum and Lee Geum-min in moving to The People’s Pension Stadium during the close season.
Brighton & Hove Albion boss Powell will have an opportunity to field her new signings for the first time when her side host Birmingham City on Sunday. The match will see The Seagulls kick-off their third season in the top flight of the women’s game. Albion will also face the Blues in the quarter-finals of the 2019/2020 Women’s FA Cup later this month.
