London Bees boss Lee Burch has been busy in the transfer market making three impressive additions just days before the new FA Women’s Championship season kicks-off.
The Bees start the new season at Coventry United on Sunday and they could have three new faces in their squad, one of which is no stranger to the club.
London Bees have today announced via their official website that full-back Olivia Smith and midfielder Mel Filis have joined the club. Smith joins The Bees after enjoying a spell with Barclays FA Women’s Super League club West Ham United while fellow youngster Filis also has top flight experience after recently being on the books at Arsenal. Both players could make their debuts for The Bees at the Butts Park Arena on Sunday.
The club have also revealed that forward Whinnett has signed on again at The Hive for the new season. The player had initially left London Bees at the end of last season after struggling to balance work commitments but has been able to return for the upcoming campaign. Whinnett netted four goals for The Bees last season as they recorded their best-ever finish in the FA Women’s Championship. Three of Whinnett’s goals came on the road, a statistic which bodes well for London Bees’ visit to Coventry United on opening day.
London Bees boss Burch has now added five new players to his group this summer excluding the return of Whinnett.
