Barclays FA Women’s Super League heavyweights Manchester City and Arsenal could meet in the semi-finals of the 2019/2020 Women’s FA Cup, if they successfully negotiate their way through their respective quarter-final ties later this month.
The draw for the semi-finals was conducted this afternoon and has thrown up the potential for a mouth-watering last four as last season’s competition is finally brought to a close.
Brighton & Hove Albion or Birmingham City will meet Everton or Chelsea in the first semi-final while the big news is in the other tie with current holders Manchester City potentially set to meet Arsenal at The Academy Stadium if they see off Leicester City and The Gunners win their North London derby with Spurs in a fortnight’s time.
The semi-final ties are scheduled to take place on Wednesday 30 September and Thursday 1 October, just four days after the quarter-final fixtures have been played out.
The 2019/2020 Women’s FA Cup final is currently pencilled in to be staged at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 1 November.
Manchester City lifted the trophy in 2019 after beating Women’s FA Cup final debutants West Ham United under the arch some 16 months ago. The 2019/2020 competition was scheduled to be brought to a conclusion in May but was suspended as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
