FA Women’s Championship club London Bees have confirmed that defender and captain Megan Alexander will have an extended absence from the squad with the player being pregnant.
The 26-year-old Wantage-born full-back is celebrating the upcoming arrival of her first child and she will spend time away from the pitch until next year.
The Bees announced the news via their official website earlier today while Alexander also informed the club’s fans in her programme notes ahead of London Bees’ FA Women’s Championship fixture against Liverpool on Sunday.
Alexander joined The Bees in summer 2019, reuniting with manager Lee Burch who she previously worked under both at Millwall Lionesses and Yeovil Town. The defender made nine league appearances for The Bees in her first campaign with the club, helping them record a best-ever finish of fifth in the FA Women’s Championship table.
After starting her senior career in the red of Liverpool, Alexander moved across the city to represent the blue of Everton. A spell with Bristol City followed before spending the last few years playing under current boss Burch at three different clubs.
Without Alexander at the back, London Bees lost their fixture against Liverpool 3-0 at The Hive this weekend, although there were plenty of positives to take away from the match for manager Burch.
