PREVIEW: Arsenal v Bristol City

Bristol City return to the scene of their heaviest defeat last season as they travel to Meadow Park to face Arsenal this afternoon.

Tanya Oxtoby’s side lost 11-1 on that occasion with Arsenal forward Vivianne Miedema netting two hat-tricks. She had a hand in all of the first 10 goals in what was an astonishing display from the Dutch international.

Arsenal go into this weekend’s fixture on the back of a 2-1 Vitality Women’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester City in midweek. The Gunners boss Joe Montemurro has a number of injury concerns with goalkeeper Lydia Williams and midfield pair Jill Roord and Kim Little all expected to be sidelined.  The North Londoners could hand late fitness tests to both Steph Catley and Lisa Evans, although the pair may not be risked.

Bristol City travel to the capital on the back of two consecutive Barclays FA Women’s Super League defeats in which they have conceded 13 goals. Oxtoby’s side were hammered 9-0 at Chelsea last time out.

After conceding goals at a rapid rate, Bristol City could line-up with defensive changes this afternoon with the likes of Faye Bryson and Laura Rafferty possibly set for starts. Ebony Salmon could also be reinstalled in attack.

Arsenal’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Bristol City is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm and will be available to stream live on the FA Player.
