England Under-21 international goalkeeper signs dual registration terms with Aston Villa

Aston Villa have completed the signing of goalkeeper Charlotte Clarke on dual registration terms according to reports on the club’s official website.

The youngster will initially continue to play her football in the FA Women’s National League North with Derby County but she will also train with Aston Villa and will provide competition for both Sian Rogers and Lisa Weiss.

Clarke spent the early days of her career with Derby County before spending three years away from the club during which time she represented both Leicester City and Stoke City. She helped The Potterettes to last season’s FA Women’s National League Cup final prior to the competition being declared void due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The keeper was hugely impressive during her time with Stoke City and she was handed her first England Under-21 call-up earlier this year. She was an unused substitute for The Young Lionesses as they recorded back-to-back international friendly victories over France at St George’s Park in March.

Derby County re-signed Clarke ahead of the 2020/2021 FA Women’s National League North campaign and she has featured in the last three matches for The Ewe Rams, ending on the winning side in two of those matches. The player will now balance her commitments in FA Women’s National League North with impressing Aston Villa boss Gemma Davies.
