Manchester City midfielder Tyler Toland is looking forward to loan club Glasgow City’s opening 2020/2021 Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) fixture against Celtic this weekend.

The 19-year-old Republic of Ireland international joined Glasgow City 10 days’ ago on a season-long loan deal with the player having been short of game time at parent club Manchester City.

Toland could make her Glasgow City debut in a mouth-watering Glasgow derby against an ever-evolving full-time Celtic side at the weekend. When speaking to FA Women’s Super League Full-Time, the midfielder admitted that it is going to be an exciting start to life at her new club

“I’m really looking forward to it” said Toland. “It’s going to be a really good game between two top sides.

“It’s a good opportunity especially with the game being at home to start the season on a positive note.”

Despite only having moved north of the border days before the start of the new season, Toland already feels part of the group at Glasgow City and is enjoying life at Petershill Park.

“I’ve really enjoyed my first few days at Glasgow City” the player added. “The girls and staff have been very welcoming both on and off the pitch.

“It’s a very professional environment, the standard and tempo in training has been top notch, I’m looking forward to the season ahead.

“It’s important for me to get game time and I’m going to work as hard as I can in my time in Glasgow.

“Ultimately the manager decides who plays but I’ll do everything I can to help the team to more success and hopefully win more trophies this season.”

Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor will keep a keen eye on the player’s development during her time in Glasgow and Toland is expecting a regular flow of communication between herself and her parent club.

Toland commented on this by saying “Both the players and staff at Man City are very professional and I’ll be in regular contact with both of them throughout the year.”

Glasgow City’s opening match of the 2020/2021 Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) season against Celtic kicks-off at 4.10pm on Sunday and will be screened live on BBC Alba.
