Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder excited ahead of Everton return

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Inessa Kaagman has admitted that she is excited at the prospect of facing former club Everton this weekend.

The 24-year-old Dutch international swapped Merseyside for Sussex this summer and has made a bright start to life in a Brighton & Hove Albion shirt.

This weekend sees Kaagman return to her former club Everton with new side Brighton & Hove Albion making the long trip north to Walton Hall Park. In the club’s pre-match press conference, in which FA Women’s Super League Full-Time were present, Kaagman admitted that she feels excited to return to her old club.

“Its going to be exciting, I am quite excited to play against them” said Kaagman. “I had a good two years with them and I enjoyed it.

“Now I am at Brighton & Hove Albion and I am really happy to be here.”

A lot has happened at Everton since Kaagman left Walton Hall Park with the club having invested heavily in their playing squad. The midfielder has admitted that she has only focused on new club Brighton & Hove Albion and has not seen her former side in action so far this season.

She went on to say “They are a good team, they have invested very well and I am not surprised that they have had a good start.

“I haven’t watched any of their games yet, I have been focusing on my own games.”

“This week we will be watching them and will study them.”

Since joining Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer, Kaagman has really felt a part of the squad and has settled in very quickly.

The midfielder added “I think its a really good step for me, I feel very comfortable and very happy being here which is the most important thing because I can be at my best.

“It is a really warm atmosphere here, I’m not saying it wasn’t at Everton but personally, it fits me really well being here.”

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture at Everton kicks-off at 1pm on Sunday afternoon and will be available to stream on the FA Player.
