West Ham United boss Matt Beard will be hoping that his side can end a three-match losing streak in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League when they take on Manchester United at The Chigwell Construction Stadium on Sunday.
The Hammers have failed to pick up a point in the league since their 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur on opening day while only Bristol City have conceded more goals than the East Londoners.
Despite West Ham United coming up against an unbeaten Manchester United side this weekend, The Hammers do have fond memories of taking on Casey Stoney’s side. Beard’s side came from 2-1 down to defeat United 3-2 at Rush Green last season in what was one of the most thrilling games of the season in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
Only champions Chelsea have taken a point from United so far this season with Stoney’s side in exceptional form. The Red Devils are currently unbeaten in five away fixtures in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, a run which dates back to that December defeat at West Ham United. Stoney has had to juggle her squad of late due to injuries but the situation does seem to be slowly improving as we head towards the international break.
West Ham United’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Manchester United is scheduled to kick-off at 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon and will be available to watch on the BBC Red Button and the FA Player.
