Arsenal’s Danielle van de Donk and Manchester United’s Jackie Groenen both netted doubles as The Netherlands defeated Estonia 7-0 in their latest UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 qualifier in Groningen this evening.
The Arsenal midfielder’s double came within the first 16 minutes of the match at Euroborg while fellow Barclays FA Women’s Super League player Groenen hit a goal in each half for Sarina Wiegman’s side.
Van de Donk opened the scoring for the Dutch in just the seventh minute of the match after Estonia had failed to deal with a corner kick. Her second goal came nine minutes later after Estonian keeper Karina Kork had initially saved a Groenen effort.
It was Groenen who then got her own name on the scoresheet after being teed up by Arsenal forward Vivianne Miedema before Sherida Spitse netted a fourth goal from the penalty spot seven minutes before the break.
The Netherlands extended their lead 20 minutes into the second half with Groenen again on target before defender Aniek Nouwen made it 6-0 after connecting with a Merel van Dongen corner kick.
Katja Snoeijs rounded off the scoring for Wiegman’s side as the Dutch secured their UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 qualification courtesy of their superior goal difference over second-placed Russia.
