Former Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Lea Le Garrec has made a positive start to life back home in France with her latest club FC Fleury 91.
The 27-year-old spent last season with Albion, impressing manager Hope Powell enough to earn herself the offer of a new deal at The People’s Pension Stadium. Le Garrec appeared in all-but-one of Albion’s fixtures in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, scoring her only goal against Birmingham City as Powell’s side won 3-0 at The Amex Stadium.
With Le Garrec missing her family back home in France, the player opted against remaining with The Seagulls for a second season and she joined French Division 1 Feminine club FC Fleury 91 on a free transfer over the summer.
Since moving to the Stade Auguste Gentelet, Le Garrec has played a starring role for her new club. The midfielder has played every single minute of the 2020/2021 Division 1 Feminine campaign so far for Les Essonniennes while she has created two of her side’s six goals, providing more assists than any of her teammates.
FC Fleury 91 find themselves in seventh place in the Division 1 Feminine table after six matches, the same position which they occupied last season prior to the campaign being brought to a premature end. In new signing Le Garrec, the club have acquired the services of a quality player in the middle of the park and there is no reason why they can’t kick on this term.
