Lewes have today officially confirmed the signing of former England Under-19 international midfielder Lucy Porter with the deal being announced via the club’s official website.
The 22-year-old came off the bench to make her Lewes debut as Simon Parker’s side fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Leicester City on Sunday.
Porter’s arrival at The Dripping Pan has today officially been revealed, the player returning to England following a four-year spell playing in the United States.
In her youth, Porter was on the books of current Barclays FA Women’s Super League club Aston Villa who she represented from Under-11 level up to Under-18 level. The midfielder was given the opportunity to get some senior football under her belt with Villa, featuring for the club in the old FA Women’s Super League 2.
Porter then moved to the United States where she combined her football with her studies at the Hofstra University in New York.
The midfielder has represented England at various youth levels up to Under-19 level and has previously captained her country.
Porter has been handed the number 27 shirt by Lewes and she will be challenged with helping The Rookettes to continue their impressive start to the new FA Women’s Championship season. Lewes have lost just one of their opening seven games in the FA Women’s Championship and have collected 12 points.
