Reading manager Kelly Chambers wants her side to find a way of churning out results after The Royals drew 1-1 at Everton in their latest Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture at Walton Hall Park this evening.
The Berkshire club have generally been playing well of late, however, they have not won in the league since defeating West Ham United 1-0 at The Chigwell Construction Stadium six weeks’ ago.
Reading displayed plenty of battle and character in their latest fixture against Everton but were unable to find a second goal to give them a fighting chance of three points.
When speaking to FA Women’s Super League Full-Time after the match, Chambers admitted that her side need to develop a winning habit.
“The frustrating thing for us in camp is that we have got the performances but we are not coming away with the results that we feel we deserve” said the Reading boss. “We have got to find a way of turning those performances into the results that we want.
“The chances that we had in the first half, we have got to be ensuring that we get shots off on goal, if not scoring goals.
“In the second half, we caused a lot of problems ourselves before bringing Everton onto us.”
Reading could have lost the match if not for a superb defensive clearance from Rachel Rowe and an injury time save from goalkeeper Grace Moloney and manager Chambers was quick to praise her defensive unit.
She said “The back four and Grace (Moloney) have been excellent this season.
“We know that the problem is at the other end of the pitch, we know that we have a lot of players in the squad coming back from injury.
“We know that we are not at our peak across the whole squad and we know that it will take a bit of time but we do need to start turning performances into results.”
Reading are back in action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.
