Former Arsenal defender Louise Quinn netted her first goal for new club Fiorentina in yesterday’s 2-0 Serie A Women victory over Bari.
The 30-year-old Republic of Ireland international centre-back joined the Italian club in July after leaving Arsenal upon the expiry of her contract at Meadow Park.
Quinn spent three years with the North Londoners in which she won the FA Women’s Continental Tyres Cup and the FA Women’s Super League title. After joining The Gunners in 2017 following the demise of former club Notts County, the defender went on to make 76 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, scoring seven goals.
Since joining Italian club Fiorentina, Quinn has played in all-but-one of their Serie A Women fixtures so far this season. The defender was on target for Antonio Cicotta’s side for the very first time in the 2-0 victory over Bari at the Stadio Antonio Antonucci yesterday. Quinn netted the first goal of the match after just eight minutes, heading home from inside the box.
Fiorentina’s victory yesterday was their first in the Serie A Women in five attempts. Viola have lots of work to do both to catch league leaders Juventus who boast a perfect record so far this season and to qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
