Chelsea and Manchester City have dominated the English nominations for various award categories at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2020.
FIFA announced their shortlists via their official website this morning with Chelsea and Manchester City appearing in many of the categories.
Chelsea trio Pernille Harder, Sam Kerr and Ji So-yun have been nominated for The Best FIFA Women’s Player award alongside Manchester City’s Lucy Bronze and Arsenal goal machine Vivianne Miedema while Blues keeper Ann-Katrin Berger goes up against City’s Ellie Roebuck for The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper gong.
In The Best FIFA Women’s Coach category, Emma Hayes has been nominated following her side’s double-winning success in 2019/2020 while goals by Manchester City’s Caroline Weir (v Manchester United) and Chelsea’s Sophie Ingle (v Arsenal) are up for FIFA’s Puskas Award.
The full list of award categories and nominees can be seen on fifa.com while fans can also vote on who they would like to see make the final three-player shortlists. The final shortlists will be announced on 11 December while the winners of all of the awards will be unveiled at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2020 ceremony on 17 December.
The Best FIFA Football Awards were first staged four years ago. Since the awards were launched, there has been no award winners from the English game. Can the nominees of 2020 change history and land the silverware?
