The nominees for The Best FIFA Football Awards 2020 were unveiled by the world’s footballing governing body this morning via their official website.
Two Barclays FA Women’s Super League goals have been nominated for the FIFA Puskas Award, those strikes being Caroline Weir’s thunderbolt for Manchester City in the first Manchester derby of last season and Chelsea’s Sophie Ingle’s lofted 20-yard effort against Arsenal at Meadow Park back in January.
The goals go up against nine other efforts from around the globe with the three most popular making the final shortlist. The winner will receive the FIFA Puskas Award on 17 December 2020.
In an exclusive FA Women’s Super League Full-Time poll, we asked fans of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League to let us know which of the two goals was their favourite. The leader of the poll changed hands on a couple of occasions before Weir’s stunning 25-yard strike finally came out on top with 60% of the overall votes.
Voting is now open with fans able to select their three-goal shortlist. To cast your vote, visit fifa.com. The final winners of all of The Best FIFA Football Awards 2020 categories will be determined by men’s and women’s football panels made up of a selection of FIFA footballing legends from around the world.
