Manchester City face nervous wait to learn the extent of injuries to trio

Manchester City are yet to determine the seriousness of the injuries sustained by defenders Megan Campbell and Alex Greenwood and forward Chloe Kelly according to reports on the club’s official website.

All three players withdrew from international duty with their respective nations last week with the trio nursing injuries.

Full-back Campbell was set to be involved for the Republic of Ireland this evening against Germany in their final UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 play-off but will play no part while England duo Greenwood and Kelly were unable to participate in the Lionesses’ St George’s Park training camp.

At this stage, it is unknown whether any of those players will be available for Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor as he takes his side to Walton Hall Park to face Everton in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League on Sunday.

Defender Campbell has not appeared for City in 10 months after sustaining a tendon injury in her foot earlier this year. The player was edging towards a return prior to her latest injury with the Republic of Ireland international having been named amongst the City substitutes against Manchester United in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup last month.

Both Greenwood and Kelly have played key roles for City so far this season and they would be likely to make the frame to start the match against Everton if fit to do so.
