Everton and Manchester City meet at Walton Hall Park in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League on Sunday afternoon a little over a month on from their meeting in the 2019/2020 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley.
On that occasion, the two sides battled to a 1-1 draw in normal time before two extra-time goals from Manchester City saw them retain the trophy courtesy of a 3-1 victory.
Everton will be without injured attackers Simone Magill, Claire Emslie and Valerie Gauvin for Sunday’s fixture meaning that the goals must be found from alternative sources against City. Manager Willie Kirk could hand the task of leading his side’s attack to both Hayley Raso and Nicoline Sorensen.
Midfielder Maeva Clemaron has shook off a knock and is available while it is thought that there are no new injury concerns for The Blue Girls to contend with.
Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor will have England international forward Lauren Hemp available to him for the first time since August with the player having overcome a hamstring injury. Defender Alex Greenwood and forward Chloe Kelly pulled out of the England squad during the international break but have been declared fit for the trip to Merseyside.
City continue to be without recovering defender Aoife Mannion while she has been re-joined on the sidelines by Megan Campbell.
Sunday’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Everton and Manchester City is scheduled to kick-off at 2.30pm and will be screened live on BT Sport 2.
