Leicester City will be hoping to keep the pressure on FA Women’s Championship leaders Durham this afternoon when improving London Bees provide the opposition at Farley Way.
The Foxes have won their last three matches in all competitions while Jonathan Morgan’s side have collected 10 points from an available 12 on home soil so far this season.
Leicester City manager Morgan is not thought to have any new injury concerns to contend with ahead of his side’s meeting with The Bees in Quorn. Some members of his squad have been given additional time to rest during the international break. Goalkeeper Demi Lambourne is a long-term absentee while Hannah Cain has not yet fully recovered from her injury despite returning to training.
In his pre-match interview with the club’s official media channels, Morgan has warned his side of complacency as they face an evolving London Bees outfit.
Lee Burch’s Bees started the new season with six consecutive league defeats which left them rooted to the bottom of the FA Women’s Championship table but things have started to click at The Hive and the club are beginning to climb the table. London Bees have won all of their last three home games in all competitions by a 1-0 scoreline, although they are yet to grind out results on the road.
Bees boss Burch has highlighted the difference in the playing budgets of the two clubs ahead of the match, describing the game as a ‘David and Goliath battle’ in his pre-match interview on the club’s official YouTube channel. After conceding nine goals in their last two away fixtures in the FA Women’s Championship and FA Women’s Continental League Cup, Burch has called on his side to be more difficult to beat at Farley Way.
The FA Women’s Championship fixture between Leicester City and London Bees kicks-off at 2pm this afternoon with highlights to be made available on the FA Player following the final whistle.
