STATS: Manchester United defender averaging the most match points of any FAWSL player

Manchester United defender Amy Turner is averaging more points-per-match than any other player in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League so far this season.

The 29-year-old has been one of the most consistent performers for United during the first half of the season as the club have gone into Christmas top of the tree in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

Turner has been on the winning side in all-but-one of her Barclays FA Women’s Super League appearances in a Manchester United shirt so far this season, resulting in the defender collecting more points-per-match than any other player in the league at the midway point.

The England defender has averaged 2.78 points-per-game this season which is a higher average than United teammates Tobin Heath (2.75), Katie Zelem and Kirsty Smith (both 2.71). Chelsea keeper Ann-Katrin Berger also holds the same points-per-game average as both Zelem and Smith.

Given Manchester United’s scintillating start to the season, it is unsurprising that eight of the top 10 points-per-game averages are held by players from Casey Stoney’s squad.

Collectively as a team, Manchester United have won eight of their 10 Barclays FA Women’s Super League matches so far this season, dropping just four points. The Red Devils are four points ahead of second-placed side Arsenal who have played the same number of games. Third-placed club Chelsea have dropped the same number of points as United but have two games in hand which will be played during the second half of the season.
