Coventry United have revealed that Welsh international goalkeeper Olivia Clark has signed a contract extension with the club, keeping her with The Red and Greens for the next two years.
The 19-year-old only joined Jay Bradford’s side in the summer from National League North club Huddersfield Town but has clearly impressed during her short time at the Butts Park Arena.
Clark has made three appearances between the sticks so far this season for the Warwickshire club whilst she has also received international call-ups to the Welsh national team with the most recent coming in October.
The youngster has had to fight for her place in the Coventry United side with hugely-experienced goalkeeper Sue Wood who is the club’s captain whilst also juggling her studies at the University of Sheffield.
After signing her new deal, Clark told Coventry United’s official media channels “I’m really pleased to sign a contract at Coventry United.
“I’ve loved my time here so far and the club have shown a lot of belief in me which I am grateful for.
“The ambition that the club has is really exciting and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
Coventry United currently sit in ninth position in the FA Women’s Championship table, just two points above the relegation zone while bottom club Charlton Athletic have two games in hand. The Warwickshire side are set to push on in the transfer market this month though after securing investment from three owners of Coventry-based firm Mirius who have acquired a significant stake in the club.
Bradford’s side return to action on Sunday 17 January with a very difficult trip to Sheffield United.
