Former Chelsea and England youth international defender Ocean Rolandsen has today joined Sheffield United from FA Women’s National League South side Watford according to reports on The Blades’ official club website.
The 22-year-old joins Sheffield United on a dual club registration and will stay at the FA Women’s Championship club for the remainder of the 2020/2021 campaign.
Rolandsen arrives in South Yorkshire with a good pedigree after winning the Watford Fans’ Player of The Year award for 2020. She has already had spells playing in the FA Women’s Championship with Millwall Lionesses and London Bees. Rolandsen is versatile player who can play in either full-back position or in midfield. The young defender has made 23 appearances for Watford since joining The Golden Girls 18 months ago, finding the back of the net on two occasions in that time.
Upon joining Sheffield United, Rolandsen told the club’s official media channels “I’ve always known Sheffield United to be a big club with great players, so to be given the opportunity to be a part of the team’s campaign, it makes me feel nothing but honoured for the chance I’ve been given. I’m determined and can’t wait to represent The Blades.”
Neil Redfearn’s side currently sit in fourth position in the FA Women’s Championship but the club still have their sights set on top spot and promotion to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League despite trailing league leaders Leicester City by 10 points. Rolandsen could make her debut against Coventry United on Sunday afternoon in a crucial fixture which could see The Blades make up ground on the likes of Liverpool and Leicester City in the FA Women’s Championship promotion race with those two clubs set to face each other this weekend.
