Birmingham City’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Everton has been postponed for a second time.
The Blues’ original fixture against Willie Kirk’s side was postponed last month due to a waterlogged pitch and tonight’s rearranged meeting has now also fallen foul of the weather, the club have confirmed.
Birmingham City were really up against the forces of nature in their bid to get this evening’s game on with The Midlands being one of the areas to be severely hit by continuous heavy rain during the last 24 hours. It is understood that a pitch inspection took place at the SportNation.bet Stadium earlier today with the playing surface being declared waterlogged.
Carla Ward’s Birmingham City side returned to action for the first time in over a month on Sunday when they recorded a goalless draw with Brighton & Hove Albion in Solihull. There were plenty of positives for head coach Ward to take from that match and she will be frustrated for her side not to have the opportunity to build on that result this evening.
Everton recorded their first victory of 2021 at the weekend when they defeated Bristol City 4-0 at Walton Hall Park and they would equally have wanted to get more points on the board this evening as they look to push for UEFA Women’s Champions League qualification.
A new date for this evening’s postponed fixture will be agreed between the two clubs in due course.
