Ex-Chelsea and London City Lionesses coach appointed Galway United first team head coach

Former Chelsea and London City Lionesses coach Lisa Fallon is back in football after being unveiled as the new first team head coach at Galway United earlier today as reported on the club’s official website.

The UEFA Pro Licence holder was most recently employed in a head coach role with FA Women’s Championship club London City Lionesses before leaving her post in October for family reasons with the impact of COVID-19 having made it difficult for her to continue to work in England.

Fallon spent five months in her role at Princes Park, working alongside her assistant Melissa Phillips to develop a talented young squad. Phillips has since filled the club’s head coach vacancy herself.

During her time in England, Fallon also had a spell working at Barclays FA Women’s Super League club Chelsea where she was on the technical coaching staff as a game analyst and strategy coach.

In today joining Galway United, Fallon becomes the SSE Airtricity League First Division club’s first-ever female head coach. She will look to help the club secure promotion to the top flight in her time at Eamonn Deacy Park.

The start date of the 2021 SSE Airtricity League First Division is yet to be confirmed but Fallon could take charge of her new club for her first competitive match in March.
