Arsenal’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against West Ham United has been postponed, the club have confirmed.
The pair were set to meet at Meadow Park at midday but the playing surface has been deemed unplayable following bitterly cold conditions overnight.
A pitch inspection took place at Meadow Park at 9.30am this morning with the referee declaring the playing surface frozen. Given the early kick-off time and the forecast for the remainder of the day, the decision was therefore made to call the game off.
Arsenal were hoping to return to winning ways this afternoon following a hugely disappointing 1-1 draw against Reading at The Madejski Stadium last weekend. The Gunners were well below their best in Berkshire as they surrendered crucial ground in the title race.
New West Ham United manager Olli Harder got off to a losing start to his tenure last weekend, his side being defeated 1-0 by London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at The Chigwell Construction Stadium. The Hammers did record a victory in midweek as they defeated second tier club Durham 3-0 in the quarter-finals of the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.
A new date for Arsenal’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against West Ham United will be agreed between the two clubs in due course.
