Barclays FA Women’s Super League leaders Chelsea’s latest fixture against Bristol City at Twerton Park this afternoon has been postponed due to heavy snow in Bath.
The Blues were hoping to maintain their position at the summit with victory over the Barclays FA Women’s Super League’s bottom club but the game will no longer go ahead with a local referee declaring the pitch unplayable due to heavy snow.
Bristol City informed fans of the postponement in a post on their official club Twitter account this morning. The playing surface is not thought to have been frozen but the heavy snowfall has made it impossible for the game to go ahead as planned.

Bristol City’s stand-in manager Matt Beard will be disappointed with the postponement of today’s game with his side aiming for their first league victory of the season. The Robins have drawn two and lost nine of their 11 Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixtures so far this season and Beard has set his side a 13-point target for survival. Nearest relegation rivals Aston Villa collected a rare point yesterday as they drew 2-2 with Reading at The Banks’s Stadium in Walsall.
A new date for Bristol City’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Chelsea will be agreed by the two clubs in due course.
