Teenage Arsenal forward joins Charlton Athletic

Arsenal forward Katie Godden has joined FA Women’s Championship club Charlton Athletic according to reports on The Addicks’ official website.

The 17-year-old becomes Charlton Athletic manager Riteesh Mishra’s fourth signing within the last 48 hours and the player could go straight into the squad to face London City Lionesses in an FA Women’s Championship fixture at The Oakwood this evening.

The addition of Godden is the latest positive move made by The Addicks boss Mishra as he looks to steer his side off the bottom of the FA Women’s Championship table. Mishra added highly-rated Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Elisha Sulola to his squad on Tuesday, a player who is a really exciting prospect, while forwards Angie Dunbar-Bonnie and Emma Plewa joined the club yesterday.

Charlton Athletic are currently two points adrift at the bottom of the FA Women’s Championship table, however, they boast as many as four games in hand on the sides above them. Victory over London City Lionesses at The Oakwood this evening will see the club jump two places, above London Bees and Coventry United.

The Addicks are the league’s joint-lowest scorers with just seven goals but this week’s business conducted by manager Mishra looks really impressive and will inject plenty of fresh attacking quality into his side.
