Watford’s Vicarage Road has been selected to host this season’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup final.
The final will take place on Sunday 14 March and it has been confirmed that the tie will be broadcast live on BT Sport 1.
The semi-final ties are set to be staged next week with current trophy holders Chelsea taking on West Ham United and Bristol City playing host to second tier club Leicester City. Given the locations of those clubs remaining in the competition, Vicarage Road seems the perfect choice for the final, particularly given the challenges brought to the game by COVID-19.
FA Women’s Super League Full-Time were informed of the news by an official press release from The Football Association earlier today.
Speaking about the decision to stage the FA Women’s Continental League Cup final at Vicarage Road, Kelly Simmons, FA Director of The Women’s Professional Game, said: “We are delighted to confirm Vicarage Road as the host of the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup Final.
“Watford are a club known for being at the heart of their community and we are really looking forward to working with their staff to put on a memorable match. The Final is one of the showpiece fixtures in the women’s football calendar and we hope fans across the country will tune in and help us mark the occasion.”
Chelsea defeated Arsenal 2-1 in last season’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup final at The City Ground in Nottingham.
