Manchester United forward Tobin Heath could be sidelined until the end of April with an ankle injury.
The 32-year-old United States international was last seen in a United shirt in the club’s final game of 2020 as they defeated Bristol City 6-1 at The Leigh Sports Village. Heath netted two of The Red Devils’ goals in that match.
United boss Casey Stoney has today provided an update on the player’s injury via the club’s official media channels and the news is not good. Heath’s ankle injury has recently been assessed by a specialist and it has been determined that she could spend between 10 and 12 weeks on the sidelines.
Speaking about Heath’s injury, manager Stoney told United’s official media channels “Tobin has hurt her ankle and will be out for around 10-12 weeks.
“It’s a longer one, she is a big loss for us but she has still been great in the environment.”
Heath joined United on a one-year deal in September and the forward has gone on to play a key role for the club. The two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup winner has netted four goals in 11 appearances for Casey Stoney’s side in all competitions.
Looking ahead at the fixture list, Heath could miss around seven of United’s remaining fixtures in this season’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League including next month’s Manchester derby and their trip to Arsenal in March. The player will also be unavailable for selection for the United States as they compete in next month’s 2021 SheBelieves Cup.
United travel to Everton in their next fixture in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League on Sunday.
