Former Brighton & Hove Albion and Lewes keeper joins London City Lionesses

Former Brighton & Hove Albion and Lewes goalkeeper Nina Wilson has joined FA Women’s Championship club London City Lionesses.

The deal went through before the closure of the January transfer window with FA Women’s Super League Full-Time being notified of the move by London City Lionesses this afternoon.

The 21-year-old London-born keeper returns to the English game following a short spell playing in Iceland with Fjardabyggd/Höttur/Leiknir and she will wear the number 44 shirt during her time at London City Lionesses.

Wilson started her senior career with Brighton & Hove Albion who she represented in the old FA Women’s Super League 2 before she joined Lewes where she made six appearances during the club’s debut campaign in the second tier.

In summer 2019, the keeper joined Watford and she started 14 of The Golden Girls’ 19 matches during the 2019/2020 season, keeping five clean sheets in the process.

Upon joining London City Lionesses, Wilson told the club’s official media channels “I am ready to make the next step in my career and I can think of nowhere better than with London City Lionesses.

“Everyone I talked to before joining the club had only good things to say and I was excited by meeting people from LCL.

“I can’t wait to get going and hope to make an impact on the pitch as soon as possible.”

Wilson could be involved for her new club on Sunday when Durham are the visitors to Princes Park in the FA Women’s Championship.
