Highly-rated West Ham United defender Mia Cruickshank has joined FA Women’s Championship club London Bees on loan according to reports on The Bees’ official website.
The 18-year-old defender is in need of regular first team football and it is hoped that the player will gain some valuable experience during her time at The Hive.
Cruickshank came through the academy system at Barclays FA Women’s Super League club Reading. She was named on The Royals bench for last season’s 3-3 Barclays FA Women’s Super League draw with Bristol City at The Madejski Stadium but never made her senior debut for Kelly Chambers’ side.
The teenager swapped Reading for West Ham United last summer and Cruickshank has gone on to be part of The Hammers’ senior squad. The defender is still awaiting her debut for Olli Harder’s side but she has been an unused substitute on six occasions.
Cruickshank joins a London Bees side who are just two points above the FA Women’s Championship relegation zone, although Lee Burch’s side have been making some real progress in the last couple of months. The Bees are unbeaten in five home games, a run dating back to early November.
The defender has been handed the number 33 shirt by London Bees and the player could make her debut for the club against Sheffield United at The Hive on Sunday.
