London City Lionesses’ FA Women’s Championship fixture against Durham has become the first game of the day to be called off.
The two sides were due to meet at Princes Park at midday in the FA Women’s Championship’s live fixture on the FA Player but the match has been postponed with serious concerns over the bad weather which is forecast to hit Dartford this afternoon.
The pitch was covered overnight but with temperatures not expected to rise above zero all day and snow forecast throughout the afternoon, the match referee has opted to postpone the fixture after having concerns over whether the game would be completed.
London City Lionesses’ fixture against Durham is one of six games which were scheduled to take place in the London area this afternoon. In the Barclays FA Women’s Super League Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham United are at home while Charlton Athletic and London Bees have home fixtures in the second tier. Those five games are currently set to go ahead as planned.
A new date for the rearranged fixture will be agreed between London City Lionesses and Durham in due course. Neither side have a fixture scheduled for Sunday 28 February and this looks to be the earliest opportunity when the fixture could be pencilled in.
