Arsenal have confirmed that Jen Beattie, Jordan Nobbs and Kim Little have all suffered training ground injuries which will see them sidelined for this afternoon’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League clash with Manchester City.
The Gunners were already set to be without long-term absentees Viktoria Schnaderbeck (knee) and Steph Catley (hamstring) but a report on the club’s official website has now confirmed that head coach Joe Montemurro is without five first team players in total.
Defender Beattie has pulled a hamstring and is unavailable to face her former club while midfielder Nobbs has sustained an injury to her quad. Scotland international Little has also suffered an injury blow on the training ground with the player now struggling with a calf problem. All three players have started their respective rehabilitations, although they are all likely to miss the midweek fixture at Chelsea in addition to this afternoon’s clash with Manchester City.
Anything other than three points this afternoon simply won’t do Arsenal who are currently four points adrift from the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualification places and nine points off the Barclays FA Women’s Super League summit. How The Gunners perform over the course of the next four days will undoubtedly indicate where the club will finish this season.
This afternoon’s meeting with Manchester City is scheduled to kick-off at 2.30pm and will be screened live on BT Sport 1.
