Tottenham Hotspur’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Bristol City has been postponed due to a frozen pitch, the club have announced.
The two clubs were set to meet at The Hive later this evening but the match has been called off following an earlier pitch inspection in North West London.
The game always seemed to be in serious doubt with Barnet’s National League fixture against FC Halifax Town at the same venue having been postponed last night. London and the surrounding areas have been hit with snow and ice in recent days and temperatures are expected to plummet to well below freezing this evening.
Both clubs will be bitterly disappointed with the postponement of tonight’s game. Rehanne Skinner’s Spurs side will have wanted a quick opportunity to erase memories of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa while visitors Bristol City will have had their eyes set on climbing out of the relegation zone by building on their three-match unbeaten run in all competitions.
A new date for the rearranged fixture will be agreed between the two clubs in due course. Neither side are due to play another game this month with the calendar now moving into an international break.
